Shoes & bags
Let a bright handbag supply the strongest colour, then choose quieter clothing colours that still feel like your wardrobe.

A bright bag is easiest to see when the rest of the outfit gives it some space. This does not require dressing entirely in black. Cream with tan, navy with grey, or two related shades of brown can provide a calm background. The idea is to make the colour relationship deliberate, not to remove every interesting detail from the clothes.
Choose the clothes first and look at them without the bag. If a print already contains several vivid colours, the handbag may become one accent among many rather than the only strong colour. That can be attractive, but it is a different effect. For a single focal point, start with a solid kurta set, plain dress or simple separates.
A small cobalt bag and a large cobalt tote make different statements even though they share a hue. Carry the bag in its intended position and look from across the room. A small bag may read as a bright punctuation mark; a broad tote creates a larger block beside the body. Neither is automatically better. Choose according to how noticeable you want the colour to be and what the bag must hold.
You do not need shoes in the same bright shade. They can repeat a clothing colour or use a restrained metal finish. If you want a connection between the bag and another detail, try a tiny echo in an earring or scarf edge rather than adding a second large block of colour immediately.
Surface also changes the effect. A glossy red bag catches light differently from a soft matte red pouch. In an outfit with shiny jewellery, a matte bag may keep the colour visible without adding another reflective area. Check the combination in daylight as well as indoor lighting if possible.
Wear the outfit with the bag removed for a moment. The clothes should still feel complete when you put the bag down at a desk or table. A bright handbag can lead the colour story while remaining an accessory you are free to set aside, rather than the only thing making the outfit work.
